This Cookie Policy explains how GIGACHAD LLC ("GIGACHAD", "we", "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on the website at gigachadapp.com and in the GIGACHAD mobile app. It supplements our Privacy Policy. If you have questions about anything below, email privacy@gigachadapp.com.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites work, or to work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the site's operators. "Local storage" and other browser storage mechanisms (sessionStorage, IndexedDB, service-worker caches) are functionally similar to cookies in that they store data on your device for the website to read later. For simplicity, we use the term "cookies" throughout this policy to refer to all of these technologies.
Cookies set by gigachadapp.com itself are "first-party" cookies. Cookies set by a third party (such as an analytics provider whose script runs on the page) are "third-party" cookies.
2. Cookies we use on gigachadapp.com
The gigachadapp.com marketing site is a mostly static website built with the Astro framework and hosted by Vercel. We currently use only essential cookies that Vercel sets for content delivery and security. We do not use third-party advertising cookies, cross-site tracking pixels, or behavioral-targeting cookies on this site.
Essential cookies
- Vercel infrastructure cookies. Our hosting provider, Vercel, may set short-lived cookies on incoming requests for content delivery, request routing, and bot protection. These cookies do not identify you personally and are not used for analytics or advertising. See Vercel's privacy policy for details.
Functional storage
- Theme and preference storage. If you change any display preferences on the site (for example, dark/light theme), we store that choice in your browser's localStorage so it persists between visits. This data never leaves your device.
Analytics
The marketing site does not currently load a third-party analytics script. If we add anonymous traffic analytics in the future (for example, PostHog), we will update this policy and surface a consent prompt where required by law before any analytics cookie is set.
3. Cookies and storage in the mobile app
The GIGACHAD mobile app does not use cookies in the traditional web-browser sense. Instead, it uses the operating system's secure storage facilities to keep your session active between launches:
- iOS Keychain for session tokens, OAuth refresh tokens (when you connect a wearable), and any other secrets.
- Android EncryptedSharedPreferences for the equivalent data on Android devices.
- App-private storage for non-secret preferences (unit system, notification settings, cached workout data, the bundled food-database file).
In addition, some third-party SDKs the app integrates with may store local data on your device for their respective functions:
- RevenueCat stores anonymized purchase and subscription state to validate your entitlements. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
We do not currently integrate a third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK in the app. If we add one in the future (for example, PostHog for analytics or Sentry for crash reports), we will list it here and update our Privacy Policy first.
All of this data is removed when you uninstall the app, except for any data already transmitted to those vendors' servers, which is governed by the deletion mechanisms described in our Privacy Policy.
4. How to manage cookies on the website
Most web browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through their settings. Doing so may break parts of the website (for example, your theme preference will reset on every visit). Here are direct links to the cookie-management documentation for major browsers:
In the mobile app, you can clear local data by uninstalling and reinstalling the app, or via your device's "Clear app data" setting (Android) or by deleting and reinstalling (iOS).
5. Global Privacy Control (GPC)
We honor Global Privacy Control signals on gigachadapp.com. If your browser or browser extension sends a GPC signal with your request, we treat it as a request to opt out of any selling or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, consistent with the California Consumer Privacy Act and similar state laws. We note that we do not currently sell or share personal information for advertising purposes, so the practical effect of the GPC signal on our processing is limited, but we honor it as a positive expression of your privacy preferences.
6. International users
If you are visiting from the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area, or any other region with a cookie-consent law (such as the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, EU ePrivacy Directive, UK GDPR, or EU GDPR), you have the right to refuse non-essential cookies. Because the marketing site does not currently set any non-essential cookies of its own (see Section 2), no separate consent prompt is presented. If we add non-essential cookies in the future, we will surface an opt-in consent banner before any such cookie is set, as required by applicable law.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time as our use of cookies and similar technologies evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the website or app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
